Overwater Villas in Maldives

“The design of its overwater bungalows are mostly in the shape of a leave, resembling palm trees. If I had a drone back then, this would make for an absolutely stunning image. I went around the island to find a good composition for a clean shot of the villas forming a beautiful alignment towards the sea.”

I travel around the world with MeFoto Globetrotter, my trusty Nikon with a set of LEE filters all packed into an incredibly reliable Manfrotto backpack. These are some of the gears I carry around to capture and produce these phenomenal and incredible imagery.

Overwater Villas in Maldives…

Just 20 kilometres north of the main island of Malé, lies the Club Med village. Having one of the most beautiful overwater bungalows with the view of the horizon, gives guests a chance to see the most spectacular sunset with no man-made interference or obstruction. It’s just you and the nature.

Accompanied with the sound of the waves crashing, gentle breeze brushing and caressing your skin, the soft warmth and glow from the setting sun, you relaxed on the cushions wondering through your thoughts. How much better can that be?

The design of its overwater bungalows are mostly in the shape of a leave, resembling palm trees. If I had a drone back then, this would make for an absolutely stunning image. I went around the island to find a good composition for a clean shot of the villas forming a beautiful alignment towards the sea.

By now, I realised it gets awkwardly painful for me to shoot without my trusty tripod. Getting enough light and balancing that becomes tricky, but it taught me a good lesson to use surrounding objects for greater balance. For this shot, I held it still standing up while using my wife’s shoulder for balance.

Overwater Villas in Maldives” image was created despite the tricky conditions. I’m happy with this shot despite a midday timing.

P.S Phew, she didn’t complain when I did that on her shoulder…
